IHE Members shortlisted for Times Higher Education Awards 2025

IHE Members feature in the shortlists across three categories: Specialist Institution of the Year, Most Innovative Teacher of the Year, and Outstanding Estates Team.

THE Awards 2025

We are thrilled to see IHE Members recognised in the shortlists for this year’s Times Higher Education Awards 2025.

Dubbed the Oscars of higher education, the Times Higher Education Awards cover all aspects of university activity – from innovative teachers and world-class research to outstanding estates teams and international collaborations. More than 120 institutions submitted over 500 entries, with 69 institutions making the final shortlist for this 21st edition of the awards.

The Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology, New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering (NMITE), and Norland College are all finalists in the Specialist Institution of the Year category, a new award introduced this year in recognition of the contexts in which specialist providers operate and the institutional diversity that exists within the sector.

ESCP Business School has been shortlisted in the Outstanding Estates Team category, with Marie Taillard, L’Oréal Professor of Creativity Marketing and Interim Dean at ESCP's UK campus, a finalist for Most Innovative Teacher of the Year.

Professor Beverley Gibbs, Director of the Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology, said:

“This award recognises institutions that are redefining what it means to deliver high-quality, impactful higher education in a specialist setting. For us at the Dyson Institute, it’s a moment to reflect on how smaller providers can deliver education that is both innovative and rigorous, deeply connected to industry, and transformative for students. We’re honoured to be shortlisted alongside other pioneering institutions and look forward to celebrating the sector’s achievements at the awards ceremony later this year.”

Dr Janet Rose, Principal of Norland, said:

"We are incredibly honoured to be shortlisted for the prestigious Specialist Institution of the Year THE Award in its inaugural year. This recognition reflects our commitment to excellence, innovative education and research, and life-transforming impact. Our unique approach, combining the latest academic knowledge with practical skills and real-world experience, sets our graduates apart and ensures they are highly sought-after around the world. This achievement is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire Norland community."

Sophie Bertrand, UK Director of Estate and Operations at ESCP Business School, said:

"This nomination is a tribute to ESCP’s students, whose indefectible support has inspired us to push the boundaries of our historic campus and think outside of our 'site box'. With the support of our entire community, we have found creative and sustainable ways to improve what is ultimately their space. This recognition is a result of all our students, staff and wider community working together as ESCP continues to grow in the UK."

Marie Taillard, L’Oréal Professor of Creativity Marketing and Interim Dean at ESCP's UK campus, said:

"We are grateful that our unique 'Not by the Book' teaching approach is being recognised in this way: it is one of the main reasons students choose our programme. Working with companies on strategic issues is an invaluable opportunity for students to learn new skills, to build their confidence and to experience the excitement that comes from real-life creative problem-solving. For companies, the value comes from exposure to new talent and the very fresh innovative thinking from students with highly diverse backgrounds and experiences.  The process feeds right into our curriculum, challenging us to keep our course content relevant and cutting-edge.  All in all, it is a highly effective virtuous cycle."

We wish all those shortlisted the very best of luck and look forward to celebrating IHE Members' achievements at the awards ceremony on Thursday 13 November 2025.
