IHE appoints Andrew Boggs as Independent Board Member

We are delighted to announce the recent appointment of Andrew Boggs to the IHE Board, who succeeds Robin Middlehurst as our new Independent Director and Chair of the Governance and Nominations Committee.

In his current role as University Clerk at Kingston University London, Andrew oversees corporate governance, legal matters, higher education regulatory compliance, and supports the Chair of the Board and the Vice-Chancellor.

Andrew has worked in the higher education sector and on university policy for over 25 years. He served as policy advisor to the Government of Ontario (Canada) and was the inaugural Research Director of the Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario. Since moving to the UK in 2008, Andrew has worked with Universities UK, the Russell Group, the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education, Oxford University, St Mary's University Twickenham, and the Department for Education. Andrew is a published scholar on university regulation and governance, higher education policy and history, and student fee policy, and is a regular contributor to Wonkhe and the Higher Education Policy Institute.

Andrew has already made a significant contribution to the development of IHE’s governance processes and we look forward to working with him in the coming years.

Commenting on his appointment, Andrew said:

"It is a historically volatile period for higher education in the United Kingdom. This is particularly true for the independent higher education sector because it is incredibly diverse and often does not fit neatly into Government policy and approaches to regulation. Consequently, this is both an exciting and challenging time for IHE. I am proud to have the opportunity to help support its mission to ensure a strong and authoritative voice for independent higher education providers."
