Integrated quality consultation: IHE roundtable

The Office for Students (OfS) is expected to publish the second stage of its consultation on their approach to regulating quality this October, including details of the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) and how a more integrated approach to regulating quality will work in practice.

This roundtable is a space for IHE Members to talk openly about the proposals and what they mean in practice.

The IHE policy team will provide an overview of the areas in the consultation, followed by discussion. The session will identify the priority issues to raise with the OfS, both in written response to the consultation and directly at our second roundtable with the OfS team on 10 November.

Discussion may include areas such as:

  • which providers will be assessed and when
  • how partnership provision would be treated
  • what evidence providers and students will need for the student experience assessment, including student submissions where there is no students' union
  • proposed changes to student outcomes, including new measures of post-study outcomes
  • the consequences of ratings, including recruitment limits and Degree Awarding Powers (DAPs).

This session is aimed at those with responsibility for quality, regulation, TEF submissions, student engagement, academic governance, and institutional strategy. Members' views will be used to inform IHE's consultation response.
