Wilkes Academy of Performing Arts joins IHE

Specialist performing arts college training the next generation of triple threat performers.

Wilkes Academy of Performing Arts

Wilkes Academy is dedicated to equipping students with the skills and resilience needed to achieve sustainable careers in musical theatre and the wider performing arts industry.

The Academy delivers a three-year, practice-led BA (Hons) Musical Theatre degree that develops students’ abilities across singing, acting and dance. Students benefit from high contact hours, practical training, and performance opportunities that mirror professional practice.

Its wider provision includes a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts, providing a strong foundation for progression into higher education or further training, and a Year in Industry offering intensive professional preparation and support for entry into the sector.

Training is rooted in strong industry engagement, with teaching delivered by experienced professionals and enriched by guest practitioners. The Academy's relationships across the sector - including the support of high-profile patrons such as Ant & Dec - connect students with world-renowned choreographers, leading West End performers and industry directors, ensuring training remains closely aligned with current industry practice and employment pathways.

Located just outside Swindon, Wilkes Academy offers access to London’s audition scene without the high living costs, alongside a strong focus on student welfare and high-quality facilities. Dedicated learning spaces - including an area for aerial training - allow students to hone their vocal, acting and performance skills. Graduates have gone on to secure performance contracts in the West End, the global cruise industry, and across film, television, radio and music.
