Universal Centre of Sport (UCS) joins IHE

IHE welcomes sports education provider to membership.

As a sports education provider, UCS strives to deliver the next generation of outstanding industry professionals.

Founded in 2014 to meet the growing demands of the sports industry, UCS now spans more than 20 campuses across the country, from Manchester to Surrey. Guided by the traditions of industry professionals, UCS takes a comprehensive approach to education, aiming to nurture the intellectual, physical, and ethical growth of every student, and to build an inclusive learning community that champions diversity.

UCS offers a range of sports degrees and higher national qualifications, including BSc Sport Coaching, BSc Sport and Fitness, and HNC Sport and Exercise Science. Students can choose to tailor their studies further through specialist pathways such as Pro-Player, Education and Training, Personal Training, or Schools Partnership. All programmes are delivered through a blended learning model: 80% live tutor-led online sessions, and 20% face-to-face teaching, combining convenience and flexibility with hands-on learning and assessment of practical skills.

Support is embedded at every stage of the student journey. A dedicated team helps students choose the right course for their professional ambitions, and assists with travel and accommodation for on-campus days. With access to an extensive network of campuses and facilities, practical learning and invaluable industry experience, UCS students are equipped with the coaching, employability and management skills necessary to be successful in their chosen careers, becoming graduates with the deep knowledge and confidence to stand out and thrive in today’s competitive sports job market.

Dominic Anderson, Director of Performance, Standards & Curriculum at UCS, said:

“UCS has joined IHE to further enhance the quality and scope of our educational offerings. We look forward to gaining access to cutting-edge resources, research opportunities and a network of experts that will enable us to provide our students with the most up-to-date knowledge and skills. This partnership strengthens our commitment to academic excellence, innovation and preparing our students for future success. Through collaboration with IHE, UCS is equipped to offer a richer, more dynamic learning experience, ultimately ensuring our students are ready to meet the challenges of an evolving global workforce.”

Alex Proudfoot, IHE Chief Executive, added:

"UCS is opening doors for students to turn their passion for sport into rewarding careers through a strong emphasis on academic achievement, employability and the skills they will need to succeed in the industry. With their commitment to combining practical experience with flexible learning, UCS will feel right at home in the IHE community. We look forward to supporting both UCS and its students to realise their goals."

This partnership strengthens our commitment to academic excellence, innovation and preparing our students for future success.
