We are pleased to reintroduce our survey at a time when both the IHE community and interest in the independent higher education sector have grown significantly.
The survey seeks to build a detailed, up-to-date picture of how things have changed for independent providers in the new regulatory environment — priorities, concerns, and plans for the future.
The insights shared will inform and influence our work, helping to:
- Raise the public profile of independent providers
- Shape IHE’s policy and lobbying priorities
- Articulate the ways in which we represent the interests of independent providers to government and regulators
- Increase understanding of independent providers among key stakeholders, including the Office for Students (OfS) and Department for Education (DfE), with whom we will share fully anonymised data
- Develop the services and support we provide to members
- Showcase the value of independent providers to the wider sector
- Identify areas for future collaboration to meet collective challenges
Guidance for completing the survey
In all cases, we are seeking one response per institution.
IHE Members
Members have been sent guidance on how to complete the survey.
Non-members
We also welcome contributions from non-member independent providers of higher education.
Further information
The survey takes approximately 30–45 minutes to complete. Some of the questions ask about student numbers at your institution. You are advised to have accurate figures to hand before starting the survey.
Everyone who has already responded or who completes the survey by Friday 24 October will automatically be entered into a random prize draw to receive one of four free tickets to the IHE Annual Conference on Wednesday 26 November 2025 (for new bookings only).
