Alex Proudfoot, Chief Executive of Independent Higher Education (IHE), said:
"The announcement today that the UK will rejoin the Erasmus+ scheme in 2027 is such wonderful news with which to end the year. A new generation of young people, and students of all ages, will once again be able to benefit from the life-changing opportunity that studying abroad in Europe represents. The work experience route embedded in the scheme extends this opportunity even further to support apprenticeships, internships, and learners on a more vocational path, irrespective of their background.
"This is excellent news for UK-EU relations as well. As the nations of the world face daunting challenges together, it has never been more important to build stronger bonds of trust and friendship between people everywhere, including with our nearest neighbours."
