IHE announces Phil Deans as new Vice Chair of the Board

IHE welcomes Phil Deans as the new Vice Chair of the Board.

IHE is pleased to welcome Phil Deans as the new Vice Chair of the Board.

Phil has been President and Vice Chancellor of Richmond American University London since 2020 and, before that, was Provost for 8 years. He has dedicated his career to furthering international education opportunities and promoting diversity and international perspectives on learning, teaching and curriculum development and content. 

Welcoming the announcement of his appointment to Vice Chair, Phil Deans said:

“I am honoured by the opportunity to serve as Vice Chair of the Board of Independent Higher Education. IHE is a remarkable organisation, representing a diverse and dynamic body of British higher education, training and pathway providers. As well as making a significant direct contribution to the UK education landscape, IHE provides its membership with invaluable support, advice and guidance in a complex and changing regulatory and market environment. I am delighted to have this chance to work with and support the IHE leadership team and the Board to deliver our mission and goals.”

Commenting on the appointment, James Pitman, Chair of the IHE Board, said:
