This session will provide an overview of the OfS initial condition of registration E7 on “effective governance”. This is part of a series of support provided by IHE to help members navigate Office for Students (OfS) requirements and process.
The OfS have proposed to introduce a new initial condition of registration E7 which will come into effect when registration reopens in August 2025. This will replace conditions E1 (public interest principles) and E2 (adequate and effective management and governance arrangements).
The focus for the condition will be an assessment of governing documents, and it has been proposed by OfS (confirmation of the requirements and guidance is expected in August) that providers will be required to submit a business plan. Proposals also indicate providers will need to demonstrate that individuals in governance and senior management are fit and proper persons, and provide assurances around prevention of fraud and misuse of public funds.
At this session, our expert speaker will provide an overview of the new requirements, what these mean for providers, and the criteria OfS will use to assess effective governance.
This session is designed for all those preparing to apply for OfS registration, whatever stage of the journey you are at. It will also be useful for those already registered and seeking to further understand regulatory requirements around governance, to enhance their own practice in line with the direction the OfS is taking.
