The OIA are planning a consultation this Spring with the sector to cover both the Scheme itself and the casework process.
- There is a growing and increasingly diverse number of students using the scheme: undertaking a fundamental review of casework processes will ensure the Scheme is user‑centred, efficient and focused on effective resolution.
- A move to principles: the Scheme needs modernising in how it is expressed and the language it uses, moving away from dense, overly procedural “rules” that can be hard to follow for students, providers and advisers.
- Complex and changing environment: OIA hope to create a more adaptable Scheme, with clearer separation between core principles and operational detail to allow flexibility while maintaining transparency and accountability.
Join us at 10:30-12:00 on Wednesday 10 June for a roundtable event at which the IHE policy team will outline the proposals and seek views from members.
