The Office for Students (OfS) has launched a consultation setting out proposals for a new approach to consumer and student protection. The proposals introduce a new ongoing condition of registration (C6) that would require all registered providers to treat students fairly in relation to their higher education provision and associated services.
The proposed changes would affect how providers design and communicate student-facing information, manage course changes, handle complaints and refunds, and oversee the actions of agents. They would also require institutions to review their current policies, contracts, and risk‑management processes to ensure compliance with the new expectations.
Join us at 13:30-15:00 on Thursday 28 May 2026 for a roundtable event at which the IHE policy team will outline the proposals and seek views from members.
This consultation will close on Thursday 9 July 2026.
