Join us to discuss the Office for Students (OfS) consultation on new conditions of registration relating to free speech.
The consultation sets out how the OfS proposes to assess, monitor and regulate compliance with the new requirements, which are due to come into effect from 1 April 2027. The proposals include new registration conditions E11 and E12, alongside new guidance for providers and updates to Regulatory Advice 24. Read more about the consultation and its proposals.
With implementation approaching, providers will need to consider how free speech requirements are reflected within institutional governance, decision-making and culture. IHE has already highlighted a number of areas requiring further consideration, including charitable governance, employer engagement and implementation challenges.
Members will have the opportunity to discuss:
- the key proposals within the OfS consultation
- potential implications for higher education providers
- emerging questions, concerns and areas of uncertainty
- considerations for institutional responses and future implementation.
