IHE has teamed up with Advance HE to deliver our first ever Introduction to Higher Education for Directors and Board Members.
This session is designed for board members at independent higher education providers with limited experience of higher education and will focus on what makes governance roles in HE unique. It will explore the role of the board in managing HE regulation, including the relationship between charity/corporate and academic governance and the role of student and staff stakeholders. It will provide an opportunity to meet and learn with others in similar roles and hear about practice in other IHE members.
We welcome new and existing board members to join the session to develop their knowledge and understanding of HE so they can offer more effective support, challenge and add value to the IHE members they work with.
The session will cover:
- An introduction to HE regulation and compliance
- The importance of effective HE governance
- The relationships between corporate governance, academic governance and management
- The role of the governing body in strategy, compliance and assurance in Higher Education
- What does good HE governance look like?
Please remember that registration is only for members of the governing bodies of independent higher education providers.
We hope this can be the first in a series of workshops designed to enhance the training and support IHE members can offer their board members. This session is exclusively for Board members with limited HE experience however we welcome suggestions designed for other members of the board or on other topics. Please email [email protected] with your ideas.
