A session on why professionalised pedagogical skills matter, and how to build them, with IHE Supporter Falmouth University.
Industry expertise is invaluable in independent higher education, but on its own it isn’t enough to meet today’s academic and regulatory expectations. The session, led by Andy Peisley (Course Leader for the PGCHE (Online) at Falmouth University) will explore why developing professionalised pedagogical skills is essential for effective curriculum design, quality assurance, external engagement, and confident collaboration with validating partners. It will also outline how pedagogical capability supports providers preparing for Degree Awarding Powers, and introduce practical, cost‑effective ways to build this expertise - including external PGCHE pathways provided by Falmouth University suited to the independent higher education context.
