In partnership with Advance HE, we are pleased to offer this workshop for those with governance experience who are seeking or undertaking governance roles in independent higher education providers. It is also recommended for providers currently going through the OfS registration process, where boards and leadership teams are required to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of higher education regulation.
The workshop will cover:
- The wider higher education policy environment, including current and future challenges facing the sector
- The governing body's responsibility for student experience and outcomes through academic assurance, with a focus on the context of small and specialist providers
- Insights from corporate and charity governance and how these can be applied — and adapted — for smaller institutions, drawing on the IHE Code of Governance
- Next steps for governance leaders looking to develop the skills, competencies and behaviours that support effective leadership in higher education
This session provides space for participants to share and reflect on their own board experiences and learn from one another, as well as from expert input.
