Tavistock Education and Training

Tavistock Education and Training is a specialist provider of mental health, social care and management and leadership education. For over 100 years, the Tavistock and Portman clinics embodied a distinctive way of thinking about and understanding mental distress, mental health and emotional wellbeing. Today, as part of North London NHS Foundation Trust (NLFT), we continue to provide mental health services, education and research.

Our programmes of study support practitioners from a wide range of sectors, including mental health, healthcare, education, social care, consultancy and criminal justice. Many of our pathways are based on an escalator model – from introductory Certificates and Postgraduate Diplomas through to more specialist Master’s degrees and Doctorate level programmes – supporting the development of expertise across multiple specialisms.

Our validated courses are awarded by the University of Essex and University of East London, while our clinical courses are accredited by a range of leading professional bodies. All our courses are developed and delivered by our faculty of expert clinician-tutors, within our working clinic – ensuring that training is highly relevant, up-to-date and applicable.

We are uniquely placed to deliver training based on real-time, clinical insights and research – reflecting the complex and changing needs of the populations we serve, in both clinical and non-clinical roles. So, whether you’re studying in London at the Tavistock Centre, across the UK and Europe with our like-minded educational partners, or remotely via an online or blended course, you can be sure that the education you receive will be highly relevant, stimulating and transformative.
