dBs Institute of Music is a specialist higher education provider for music makers, training students in production, performance, songwriting, sound engineering, and live sound. We offer a broad range of undergraduate and postgraduate music degrees validated by Falmouth University, across three UK campuses in Bristol, Manchester, and Plymouth.
Students work alongside producers, performers, songwriters, and sound engineers on shared projects, building a creative community that mirrors the collaborative nature of the music industry itself. Learning takes place on industry-standard equipment, with facilities including Dolby Atmos suites and studios built around SSL, API, and Neve consoles.
dBs Pro, the institute's in-house commercial studio, gives students paid and credited work on live industry briefs before graduation. Recent clients include BBC Springwatch, Channel 4 and Aardman, and the NHS. Students have recorded sessions at Real World Studios and taken part in the BRITs Fringe Lab at the Manchester campus, alongside an annual Industry Week bringing more than 40 professionals to campus for over 30 sessions.
Over 25 years experience of training music makers means dBs students graduate with more than a degree. They leave with a community, real client work in their portfolio and contacts across the industry.
