The Committee of University Chairs (CUC) has published its revised Code of Higher Education Governance following a period of extensive engagement across the sector. IHE was a member of the Steering Committee convened to inform the development of the updated version.
Alex Proudfoot, Chief Executive of Independent Higher Education (IHE), said:
"Effective governance is essential to safeguarding the future of our diverse and world‑leading higher education sector, and this recent review represents a significant collective effort to bring the Code up to date for a rapidly changing environment.
"As a member of the steering group, we were pleased to contribute to this work and to collaborate closely with CUC throughout the process to maintain the alignment of principles and proportionate practices between the CUC and IHE Codes of Governance.
"The result is a Code that reflects shared values, offering a renewed framework that will set the standard for effective governance, accountability and healthy board cultures across a diverse sector."
