Employment law experts from Eversheds Sutherland’s Education sector team will provide an update on legal developments in the area of employment, with a particular focus on issues of importance to HE providers.

The session will give an overview of the key provisions of new employment legislation which has recently received Royal Assent - in relation to changes relating to the right to request a more predictable contract, redundancy protection during pregnancy and family leave, neonatal care leave and pay, carer’s leave and the right to request flexible working.

You will also get an update on the latest position on proposed changes to ‘firing and re-hiring’, the OfS consultation on Harassment and sexual misconduct, and the implications for the HE sector of legislation on industrial action.

On holiday pay we will consider a recent Supreme Court decision on how far back claims for underpayment can go and update on the consultations on changes to calculating holiday pay for part-year and irregular hours workers and amendments to the Working Time Regulations in relation to rolled up holiday pay and harmonising the 4 and 1.6 weeks.

This will be an important session for HR professionals and anyone else with responsibility for managing employment-related issues in their institution.
