IHE Launchpad: Visas for EU and Non-EU students - An Introduction

Many education providers are surprised at the different routes available to international students looking to study in the UK, including for those without a sponsor licence. The rules and routes are different depending on where the provider is in the UK, the length, level and nature of the course, the accreditation or regulation of the provider, and even the way the course is delivered.

This session will provide an outline of the different options providers have to recruit international students - now including EU students - to study on their courses across all levels and lengths. It will cover options for short courses which don’t require study visas or a licence, and those longer or work-based courses that do. It will explore the responsibilities of the provider for the different students they recruit (and, if necessary, sponsor) and how to apply for a student sponsor licence. Finally, it will show some real examples of where independent higher education providers have used different student visas to grow their international student numbers, and the changes they had to make to be compliant with immigration rules.
