We are pleased to be working with IHE Partner Advance HE to deliver two short workshops designed to explore the role of leadership in supporting better governance.
This session is for those with governance experience seeking or undertaking governance roles in small and specialist higher education providers.
This session will provide participants with the necessary information and briefing on the context of higher education and how to support small and specialist higher education providers while adhering to the principles of good governance.
The workshop will seek to:
- Provide an introduction to the wider policy environment of the higher education sector, including current and likely future challenges facing higher education.
- Provide an overview of a governing body’s responsibility for ensuring student experience and outcomes through academic assurance, considering the wider context of academic and industry partnerships found in many small and specialist higher education providers.
- Facilitate space to explore different participants' experiences on boards, what can be learned from corporate and charity governance practices, and the IHE Code of Governance, and applied to higher education institutions where these need to be adjusted for smaller institutions with limited resources.
- Explore the next steps for governance leaders to enhance the skills, competencies and behaviours that enable and enhance effective higher education leadership.
