In this session, employment law experts from Eversheds’ Education sector team will provide an update on legal developments in the area of employment, with a particular focus on issues of importance to HE providers.
It will include an overview of recent and forthcoming/proposed legislative changes, including changes relating to carer’s leave, redundancy during pregnancy and family leave, neonatal care leave and pay, flexible working, restrictive covenants, workers’ right to request a more predictable contract and industrial action. It will also consider the Government’s current proposals for the removal of EU retained employment laws, and their potential impact on TUPE and working time rules, and developments in relation to ‘firing and re-hiring’ and holiday pay.
In addition, the session will consider the employment implications for HE providers of the recently enacted Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Act 2023 and provide an update on the proposals of the recent OfS consultation on Harassment and sexual misconduct.
This will be an important session for HR professionals and anyone else with responsibility for managing employment-related issues in their institution.
