We are pleased to be working with IHE Partner Advance HE to deliver two short workshops designed to explore the role of leadership in supporting better governance.

This session is for higher education leaders taking their first steps into governance roles.

The workshop will seek to:

  • Provide an introduction to how the wider higher education sector policy environment, including current and likely future challenges facing higher education, impacts governance models in small and specialist higher education providers.
  • Understand the responsibilities of being a governor/trustee or non-executive director, including the intricate relationships between governing body and executive.
  • Explore the principles of mature and good governance in the context of higher education, including fiscal responsibility and regulatory oversight.
  • Explore the skills, competencies and behaviours that enable and enhance effective higher education leadership.
